Forest Hills Club has a long and
interesting history. Club member Edna Whitmore was there almost from the
beginning, and this synopsis is derived from the pamphlet she wrote a few years
back, along with information collected by Bette Kinsman, a member with her
husband Karl since the sixties.
In 1954 a small group of members of an established southern Michigan nudist club decided to strike out on their own and form what is now the Forest Hills Nudist Club. In those days the American Association for Nude Recreation was known as The American Sunbathing Association (ASA), and the founders of our club formed ASA Club #507, the Central Michigan Sunbathing Group, sponsored by the Sunny Haven Recreation Park of Grainger, Indiana.
In 1956 the little group sold $10 bonds and raised $1200 for the purchase of the 45 acre parcel that is today the home of Forest Hills Club. Our property has been owned free and clear ever since. The "Forest Hills" name was formally adopted on January 28, 1957, and the club was incorporated as a non-profit membership organization on March 14 of that year.
In the years that followed, Forest Hills
Club has developed its property into a beautiful campground with modern
conveniences while retaining the forested, relaxed environment that has become
our signature among AANR clubs. From a hand-dug wading pool, outdoor toilets,
showers made from barrels, and a basement club house, Forest Hills Club has
developed its facility to include a huge, L-shaped pool, extensive sunning
areas, a spacious club house, a cozy sauna, and an inviting hot tub enclosed in
a rustic gazebo. There are two rental cabins, a fenced volleyball court, two
shuffleboard courts, two horseshoe pits, and two petanque courts in addition to
a covered picnic area and a playground for the kids. All of this was accomplished through the
efforts of the Club's members, for Forest Hills Club has been cooperatively
owned and operated since its inception way back in 1954.
Forest Hills Club has changed and improved
in many ways in the 50 years that have elapsed since it was founded by
that little group of dedicated nudists, but one thing has never changed. As an
organization we are dedicated to providing a safe, friendly, convenient place
for you to enjoy social nude recreation. We hope you will visit us soon to
